Make a traditional sweetgrass basket with your own hands under the guidance of master basket maker Vera Manigault on Saturday, December 16th, from 11 am to 1 pm ET at the Gullah Museum in Georgetown, SC. Vera's family has created these vessels of memory for eight generations. Gullah Geechees have made sweetgrass baskets for centuries in a style that is identical to the coil baskets of West and Central Africa. The class fee is $60—all materials needed to make a basket are included.
