Hobcaw Barony Wetlands Fieldtrip

Event Details: Tour this historic, privately protected land tract and research reserve located near Georgetown, SC. The site is nestled between the freshwater tidal estuary of upper Winyah Bay and the tidal salt marsh of North Inlet, with isolated basins of cypress-tupelo swamp scattered across the property. The Hobcaw Barony land tract preserves natural history and provides habitat for ecologically significant species in a region highly desired for coastal development. This trip will be led by Dr. William Conner and Dr. Dan Hitchcock, both of whom are professors at Clemson’s Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science, and George Chastain, Executive Director of Belle W. Baruch Foundation, owner of this site.

Registration: Email trip coordinator Dan Hitchcock (daniel.hitchcock@carolinawetlands.org). Field trip is scheduled from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM.
